Whales

Alerts on unusually large individual trades relative to a stock’s size.

The Whale Scanner detects whale prints — single trades large enough to matter for a small or mid-cap stock. It runs on the same live trade feed as the Volume Scanner.

Categories / filters

Premium custom scanners can filter whales by:

FilterPurpose
Min order valuee.g. only prints ≥ $500K
Min / max priceStock price range
Min / max market capCap tier focus
Whale sizeSmall / Medium / Large only
Require activeOnly tickers already in play

Presets: Large only and Small caps (cap ≤ $500M).

All-in-One guild settings can set min order value and whale size filters on top of the global feed rules.

When it runs

  • Runs on the live trade feed during extended market hours (4:00 AM – 8:00 PM ET)
  • Same schedule as the Volume Scanner
  • Does not run on weekends

Why traders use it

  • Spot institutional-sized prints on small caps where a single trade can move the tape.
  • Impact % vs float tells you whether the print is noise or a real position build.
  • A whale on a Top Gainers name (⭐ badge) often confirms the move has size behind it.

Notes

  • Whales are single prints, not accumulated volume — one big buyer or seller stepping in
  • Whale tiers (Small, Medium, Large) reflect how significant the print is relative to the stock's size
  • Impact % matters as much as dollar size — a $2M print on a stock with a tiny float is more significant than on a large float
